KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 – National men’s singles player, Ng Tze Yong has started to undergo light training with the national squad camp in the past two weeks, according to Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) coaching director Rexy Mainaky.
Rexy said the 24-year-old player, however, still needs to undergo rehabilitation for his two back surgeries in February and April.
“He is already training (and) but not fully (all out). If he comes here (Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM)), it maybe only for one hour maximum.
“Tze Yong has no problem moving but (still) needs rehab to develop his strength back (as before),” he said.
The 56-year-old coach said the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist is likely to be sent to participate in tournaments on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour calendar starting next year.
Tze Yong was previously confirmed to be suffering from back pain due to an injury sustained at the 2024 Badminton Asian Team Championships (BATC) in Shah Alam, Selangor in February.
The injury caused him to miss making his debut at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
