KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — UMNO information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan hopes that this weekend’s 2020 UMNO General Assembly (PAU2020) can be a platform to put an end to all the questions regarding issues within the party and its ties with other political parties.
He also hoped that all the problems which have cropped up in UMNO would be cleared up, thus strengthening the party before facing the 15th General Election (GE15).
“This (putting an end to all questions) is very important to enable us (UMNO) to be really prepared to face the people (in GE15).
“Perhaps (there are) hot issues that will touched on at PAU2020, but I am confident because UMNO is a paty that has been around for a long time and has a lot of experience or institutional memory to handle such issues (at the assembly),” he said as a guest on Bernama TV’s Ruang Bicara programme yesterday.
He explained that preparation for PAU2020 was going smoothly to ensure that it was held in compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The PAU2020 is scheduled for March 27 and 28 (Saturday and Sunday), which would be conducted in a hybrid format due to the pandemic, with a combination of some being present physically and some attending virtually.
